LİF) BİLESİGİ
kimyasal lifler bulununcaya kadar sadece bir kaç farklı çeşit lif doğada mevcuttu. Ve bu yüzyıla kadar bu liflerdeki moleküllerin yapısı(doğası) hakkında düzgün bir fikir yoktu.

Bu yüzyılın ilk yıllarında plastiklerin moleküler yapısı incelenmeye izin veren bilgiyi elde etmeye başladılar. Bu ,lastik, selüloz, yün ve diğer proteinler gibi doğal materyallerin araştırmasıyla birlikte bu materyallerin moleküllerinin binlerce atom, kimyasal bağlardan birleşerek oluştuğunu saptadı.

Şu anda onaylandı ki büyük moleküllerin içinde 10-20 atomdan oluşmuş alt üniteleri vardır. Büyük moleküller bazı alt ünitelerin arka arkaya dizilmesiyle oluşuyordu. Buna polimer dendi.

Birkaç yıl önce bütün polimerler bugün bilinmediği gibi kullanılıyordu. Bugünlerde onlarsız yaşam kesinlikle düşünülemez. Telefonlar, kovalar, sıkıştırılabilen borular, ayakkabılar ve lifler bugün polimerler kullanılarak yapılan ve yaşamımızda her gün kullandığımız nesnelere birkaç örnek.

Yukarıda listelenen nesnelerin çeşitli özellikleri hayret veridir ve hepsi polimerlerden yapılmıştır. Kimyasallarında özelliklerinin çeşitli oluşu bir o kadar şaşırtıcıdır.

Liflerin yapısını anlamak için polimerler hakkında daha fazla detaya ihtiyaç vardır.

POLİMERLER

Polimerler küçük moleküllerin arka arkaya dizilmesiyle oluşur. Küçük moleküller monomerlerdir ve birleşme işlemi polimerizasyon olarak adlandırılır. Polimer moleküllerinde birbirlerine bağlanan monomer moleküllerinin sayısı polimerizasyon derecesi olarak adlandırılır.
Doğal liflerin polimerizasyon derecesi bitkinin büyümesindeki doğa tarafından belirlenir. Bir pamuk lifi 5000-10000 polimerizasyon derecesine sahiptir. Bu, ortalama 5000-10000 arası ünitenin birleştiğini gösterir. Bir pamuk polimer molekülünde polimermolekülü ortalama 5000 monomer uzunluğunda ama 0,8 mm inceliğindedir. Buradan anlaşılan şudur ki, eğer düşünürsek, bu polimer normal bir kalem kadar incedir ve uzunluğu yaklaşık 50 metredir;ki bu uzunluk bir futbol sahasının yarısıdır.

Kimyasal polimerlerde liflerde dahil olmak üzere, polimerizasyon derecesi üretim işlemi anında kontrol edilmektedir. Bu lifin özelliklerinin belirlenmesinde çok önemlidir. Özellikle direnç ve boylanılabilirlik için önemlidir. Bazı polimerler 2 veya daha çok monomerlerin birlikte reaksiyon vermesinden oluşur. Bu polimerler Co-Polimer (Yardımcı polimer) lerdir. Co-Polimerleri oluşturan monomerlerin sırasında belirli bir düzen yoktur. Co-polimerler kesin kullanımlar için uygun özelliklere sahip polimer üretimi denenerek oluşur.
Homo polimerler tek monomerden oluşan polimerdir ki bir co-polimer 2 monomerden üretilir.

Bazı polimerler ısıtıldığında incelirler, hafiflerler ve bazı durumlarda erirler. Erimiş polimerler kalıp yada lif biçimine dönüşmeye, spinneretdaki ince ****kten geçirilerek zorlanabilir. Polimer soğutularak kalıp şeklinde ya da lif olarak tekrar katılaşacaktır. Bu şekilde eriyen polimerlerin adı Thermoplastic'tir.

Termoplastik örnekleri politen, polipropilen, polistrayn, poliamid ve polyesterdir. Termoplastik lifleri ısı bariyer( heat-set)i olabilirler. Bu , liflerin deformasyonuna ve belirli bir süre belirli sıcaklıkta ısıtmaya bağlı kalıcı deformasyondur. Isı bariyerinin kullanımına bir örnek pantolondaki ve etekteki pilelerdir.

Diğer polimerler ısıtmayla erimez ya da incelmez. Onlar sadece kalıba yapı taşlarının enjekte edilmesi ve sonra ısıtılarak polimerizasyonuyla şekillendirilebilirler. Bu polimere Termosetting denir. Örnekleri polyuretane, fenol , melanindir. Termosetting polimerleri ısıtılınca eriyen tencerenin kulpu gibi maddelerin yapımında kullanılır. Bunlar lifler için kullanılmaz.

Termoplastik ve termosetting polimerlerinin moleküler yapıları arasında farklılıklar vardır.
İki çeşit polimerizasyon işlemi vardır.Eklemeli polimerizasyon, Yoğunlaştırılmış polimerizasyon...

Eklemeli polimerizastonda yapıtaşında bulunan tüm atomlar polimerde de bulunur. Yapıtaşları polimer yapmak için basitçe birbirlerine eklenir.
Yoğunlaştırılmış polimerizasyonda küçük moleküller özellikle su reaksiyonu süresince eklenir çıkartılır.

EKLEMELİ POLİMERİZASYON

İlk sentetik polimerizasyon 1933de oksijenin katalizörlüğünde, etenin çok yüksek basınçta (1000 atm) ısıtılmasıyla gerçekleştirlmiştir. Bu işlemle yapılan polit çantaları ve diğer paketleme malzemelerinin yapımı için kullanılan bükülür materyallere çok benzerdir. Bu düşük yoğunlukta politen olarak adlandırılır. Çünkü polimer zinciri ve dalı sonuç olarak verimli olarak beraberce paketlenememiştir.

Son zamanlarda atmosferik basınç altında polimerleştirmeyi gerçekleştirilebilecek katalizörler geliştirilmiştir. Bu dallanmış polimer zinciri içermeyen kırılmaz bir üründür ve yüksek yoğunlukta politen olarak adlandırılır. İki büyük lif yapıcı polimer ( polipropilen ve akrilik)ve iki küçük politen ve polivnyil klorit ) eklemeli polimerizasyonla elde edilir. Diğer önemli materyaller polistrayn, polimetil, PTFE, ve polivnyil asetol de aynı şekilde bu yöntemle elde edilir.

YOĞUNLAŞTIRILMIŞ POLİMERİZASYON

Lif yapıcı, yoğunlaştırılmış polimerleri polyester ve poliamidlerdir.( Naylonlar ) Polimerleştirmede her iki yöntemde su eklenir. Organik kimyadaki ester , alkol ve kar***silik asit arasındaki reaksiyondan elde edilen bileşikler için kullanılır. Alkoller -OH- hidroksil grup ve kar***silik asitler COOH grubuna sahiptir.

POLYESTER

Polyester, çok ester anlamındadır ve uzun molekül elde etmek için reaksiyonun pek çok kez olması gerekir. Monomerler mutlaka hidroksil ya da kar***sil asit gibi iki gruba sahip olmalıdır. Lif yapımı polyesterler aralarında reaksiyon gerçekleşen iki bileşikten elde edilirler. Bileşikler 250-270 derece arasındaki sıcaklıkta birlikte ısıtılırlar. Oluşan su vakumla uzaklaştırılır.



POLYAMİDLER (NAYLONLAR)

Polyamidler monomerlerden birinin amine olması dışında benzer bir yolla elde edilirler. Aminler NH2 bulunduran organik moleküllerdir. Bu sefer iki amine grubu bulunduran bileşik farklı dikar***silik asitle reaksiyona girer. Yine reaksiyon süresince su dışarı verilir. Kimyasal lifler bulununcaya kadar sadece bir kaç farklı çeşit lif doğada mevcuttu. Ve bu yüzyıla kadar bu liflerdeki moleküllerin yapısı(doğası) hakkında düzgün bir fikir yoktu.
